A Nordic View: Foreign Investors in the Baltic States

On June 7 the Norwegian Chamber of Commerce in Latvia Chair of the Board Svetlana Kočerova (DNB Latvia branch) and Vice-Chair Frode Grønvold (Linstow Baltic), together with the Norwegian Ambassador Ine Måreng, participated in the panel discussion “A Nordic View: Foreign Investors in the Baltic States” during the 35th Annual Meeting and Business Forum of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The discussion brought together government representatives, leaders of international financial institutions, investors and business executives from different countries. The panel focused on foreign investors’ perspectives on the competitiveness, investment environment and future development prospects of the Baltic region. A key takeaway from the discussion was that investors increasingly view the Baltic economies as having entered a new stage of development with growth driven less by cost advantages and more by innovation, digitalization, productivity and human capital. Participants noted that the region is steadily transitioning towards a high value-added growth model while continuing to attract strong investor interest. At the same time Nordic companies reaffirmed their long-term commitment to the region. Investors also pointed to the region's highly skilled workforce, strong digital capabilities and ability to adapt to change as key factors underpinning its long-term competitiveness and growth potential.

    Shrimp Madness Summer Party

Thank you to each and every one of you who joined us for this year's Norwegian Chamber of Commerce in Latvia Shrimp Madness Summer Party despite the less-than-promising weather forecast. It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces, welcome new ones and enjoy great food, beautiful views of the Daugava River and a bright summer evening together. Traditions like this bring people together, create new friendships, strengthen our community and give us the chance to simply enjoy each other's company outside of our busy daily routines. We would like to sincerely thank the Norwegian Embassy in Riga for the excellent and long-standing cooperation we enjoy together. We truly value this partnership, which goes far beyond formal collaboration and has become a genuine, trusted relationship over time. A very special thank you goes to the Ambassador Ine Måreng, our Honorary Member of NCCL. Your engagement, openness and continuous support mean a great deal to us! And thanks also to our speakers from DNB Hilde Myhre and Anne-Kjersti Sjaastad for sharing inspiring ideas on how understanding different cultures can strengthen collaboration, trust and business results. One of the highlights of the evening was providing the support to Ronald McDonald Māja Latvijā raising funds for their Children's Health Bus programme, which brings specialist healthcare services directly to children and families in regions across Latvia, where access to medical care can be limited. We are delighted to share that, thanks to your generosity, this year's Charity Raffle raised EUR 1050. This contribution brings us one step closer to helping fund a new technical unit for the Children's Health Bus and supporting even more families across Latvia. We sincerely thank everyone who purchased raffle tickets and our generous prize donors: SPIGULIS & KUKAINIS - Law Firm in Riga, Latvia, Linstow Baltic, SunCrisp, DNB Latvia branch, Ellex Klavins and AquaFence. Your support helped make the raffle such a success! Thank you all for bringing such a warm, positive and welcoming atmosphere to the evening. You are what makes this NCCL community special!
